Assault amphibious vehicles head toward the Naval Base Guam Reserve Landing Craft Beach to conduct a mechanized raid during Exercise Valiant Shield 16, Sept. 20, 2016. The battalion landing team from Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, executed the raid to seize operationally significant terrain for follow on operations as part of island seizure for the exercise. VS16 is a U.S.-only, biennial field training exercise focused on integration of joint training in a blue-water environment among U.S. forces.
