Commander Patty Miller (ret.) holds a mirror up to Cmdr. Rafael C. Perez (ret.), division officer, Sports and Medicine Rehabilitation Center, during his retirement ceremony at the Bay View Restaurant at MCRD San Diego, Oct. 7. Perez served for 44 years and three months in the U.S. Navy, and he was deployed several times. Miller asked Perez what he saw in the mirror and he responded with, “the greatest grandfather in the world.”
