Sergeant Major Chester Wilson III enlisted in the Marine Corps in Columbia, South Carolina July 1992. Upon completing Recruit Training at MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina, he attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Later, he attended his Primary Military Occupational Specialty School in Albany, Georgia where he was assigned the MOS of 3052, Packaging Specialist. PFC Wilson was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal just prior to leaving this school. In April 1994 LCpl Wilson was assigned to 3rd Sup Bn which was located on Camp Kinser in Okinawa, Japan where he was assigned to work in the S-3 as a marksmanship instructor/coach, training assistant, and Color Sergeant. LCpl Wilson was meritoriously promoted in December 1995. After being promoted to Sergeant in January 1997, he received PCS orders. May 1997, Sgt Wilson was assigned to MAG-14, MALS-14, RMD, and SSB on MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina. At this duty station, he assumed the duties as NCOIC of the Supply Shipping Branch. Sgt Wilson also took up the duties of Color Sergeant while attending off duty College courses with Craven Community College. Summer 1999, Sgt Wilson was notified here that he was selected for promotion to SSgt and that he had orders to recruiting duty. He attended recruiting school in October 1999. January 2000, Sgt Wilson was assigned to Recruiting Station Louisville, KY and Recruiting Substation Cincinnati, Ohio as a canvassing recruiter. Sgt Wilson was promoted on March 2000. While on this assignment, he attended the NCOIC School in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania in February 2002. SSgt Wilson successfully completed the Special Duty Assignment of Recruiting Duty January 2003 and received PCS orders. January 2003, SSgt Wilson was assigned to 2nd Sup Bn on Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he served with Headquarters and Service Company and then Material Distribution Company. While serving with 2nd Sup Bn, SSgt Wilson assumed the duties of SNC
