Lt. Col. Kenneth Phelps, the commanding officer of Marine Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron 3, recognizes Sgt. Joseph Latsch and Sgt. Ethan Mintus, unmanned aerial system operators with VMU-3, after an award ceremony at Hangar 103, Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay, Dec. 11, 2017. Latsch and Mintus are the first UAS operators in the Marine Corps to receive a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with the newly authorized Remote Impact “R” Device for providing support during combat operations.
