U.S. Marine Col. Michael Oppenheim, the commander of Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force - Southern Command, center, and Colombian Naval Infantry Lt. Col. Erick H. Del Rio, the SPMAGTF-SC deputy commander, right, talk to U.S. Navy Adm. Kurt W. Tidd, the commander of U.S. Southern Command, about the upcoming deployment of the MAGTF to Latin America during a confirmation brief in Doral, Florida, May 16, 2018. The Marines and sailors of SPMAGTF-SC will soon deploy to conduct security cooperation training and engineering projects alongside partner nation military forces in Central and South America. The unit will also be on standby to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief in the event of a hurricane or other emergency in the region.
