A Marine operates the tail gun of a CH-53E Super Stallion during training in Okinawa, Japan, June 4, 2018. During the training, fire support Marines with 5th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company called in close air support and indirect fire to support simulated allied forces by suppressing and neutralizing simulated enemy threats. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward deployed MEU, provides a flexible force ready to perform a wide-range of military operations.
