A recruit from Golf Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, climbs Basilone’s challenge during a Crucible event at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., June 27. Throughout the Crucible, recruits hiked, patrolled, and trained as a team, eliminating individualism and creating a sense of unity. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Golf Company is scheduled to graduate July 13.
