U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Charles Matte, a machinist with 1st Maintenance Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 15, 1st Marine Logistics Group, mills an impeller fan on a computer numerically controlled lathe machine aboard Camp Pendleton, California, Oct. 17, 2017. In January 2019, Marine Corps Systems Command reviewed the results of 3D printed impellers with over 100-hours of use on Abrams tanks, confirming that a 3D-printed impeller can be a reliable alternative to the original part.
