U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Grant Hanak, a mortarman, left, and Lance Cpl. Jacob Herr, a machine gunner, right, both with Battalion Landing Team 2/6, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, man a M240B machine gun during a force-on-force exercise on Russaro Island, Finland, Aug. 10, 2022. During the exercise, U.S. Marines acted as the opposing force for Finnish soldiers. The Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group and embarked 22nd MEU, under the command and control of Task Force 61/2, is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. Naval Forces Europe area of operations, employed by U.S. Sixth Fleet to defend U.S., allied and partner interests.
