During the ceremony Sgt. Maj. Ploskonka passed his duties as regimental sergeant major of the Wounded Warrior Regiment to Sgt. Maj. VanFonda. Ploskonka was selected to serve as the sergeant major of the Marine Corps Installations Command, Arlington, Va.
