John W. Loomis Sr., a retired gunnery sergeant, was awarded a Purple Heart Friday in the Commanding Officer?s conference room for wounds he received in Vietnam more than 40 years ago. Loomis deployed to Vietnam three times during his career in the Marine Corps.
