Cpl. Michael Cox, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Command Element topographical chief, briefs on the varied topography of Morocco during African Lion 2012 in the Kingdom of Morocco. The 10-day exercise includes 800 US Marines, 400 Reservists from the Utah Guard and 800 Moroccan military members. Cox is working with two Geospatial Analysts from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency out of Stuttgart, Germany providing terrain, air and port maps to the exercise coordinators. This is the first time the MEU has participated in an African Lion exercise, which has taken place eight times in Morocco.
