Lance Cpl. Paul D. Hoang (right,) electro-optical ordnance repairer, Headquarters and Service Company, Battalion Landing Team 3/5, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, and Airman Jiri Gajdacek, USS Peleliu, clean dishes in the ship’s galley, July 22. Hoang and Gajdacek are both temporarily serving as mess men, a duty assigned to Marines and sailors to assist the food service specialists who prepare the meals for the Marines and sailors of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit and Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group. Hoang, 20, is from Houston, and Gajdacek, 30, is from Havirov, Czech Republic.
