NAVAL AMPHIBIOUS BASE, CORONADO ISLAND, Calif. - A Japanese Ground Self Defense soldier puts on a fin and prepares to enter the San Diego Bay during a training exercise here Jan. 13. A company of 125 soldiers from the Land of the Rising Sun conducted Exercise Iron Fist alongside 30 Marines and sailors with Expeditionary Warfare Training Group Pacific, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force Jan. 9 - 27. The joint venture focused on amphibious warfare and was designed to improve the Japanese soldiers' ability to move from ship to shore.
