Lance Cpl. Carlos Johnson, a 1/3 motor transportation operator from Atlanta, flashes a smile after adjusting the mirror on his 7-ton truck at the Camp Wilson motor pool at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, Calif. Jonson is now the senior lance corporal with 1/3's Motor T division, a far cry from when he found himself as a boot private first class transporting Marines and supplies while under fire during the battle in Fallujah barely a month after graduating from MOS school and reporting to Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay.
