U.S. Marine Lt. Col. Elizabeth D. Perez, the chief of staff for Task Force Southwest, speaks on what it means to be a leader and a woman in the Marine Corps in a combat environment at Camp Shorab, Afghanistan, March 6, 2018. Perez is currently deployed to Helmand province to train, advise and assist the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces to expand the security belt and to deny the enemy freedom of movement around central Helmand.
