U.S. Marine Capt. Sean McCool visits the USN Commander Willie McCool Gawed Kalinga Village in the Philippines, named after his father, William C. McCool, for the first time, April 29. Gawed Development Foundation, a Philippine-based poverty alleviation and nation-building movement. McCool's grandmother, Atilana Rambayon, donated her land to the foundation that provided 21 homes to families in need. McCool, from Anacortes, Washington, is a combat engineer with Combat Assault Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, in the Philippines for Exercise Balikatan 2015. Balikatan is a annual interoperability exercise with the U.S. military and the Armed Forces f the Philippines.
