U.S. Sailors with 3rd Medical Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa personnel, and Airmen with 18th Medical Group, 18th Wing, hold a Joint Nursing Symposium at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 20, 2025. The inaugural Joint Nursing Symposium aimed to unite Department of Defense members across Okinawa, fostering collaboration on key topics such as blood management, medical readiness, transportation, and women’s health. Breakout sessions included a demonstration of a simulation canine medical trainer, a full-body trainer for operational canine first responders, military working dog handlers, veterinarians, and veterinary technicians; a Valkyrie Lavoy display, which provides blood capabilities during contingencies; a women's health display; ambulatory displays; and a workshop where personnel worked in groups to investigate different medical scenarios.
