U.S. Marines with the maritime raid force, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, take part in a visit, board, search, and seizure exercise in the Coral Sea, July 8, 2023. The VBSS exercise was conducted to hone the skills and proficiency of the MRF Marines techniques in boarding and securing maritime vessels. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
