Marines from 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, worked closely with infantrymen from 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines during a combat engineer and infantrymen cross-training drill aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif., Oct. 4, 2016. Marines shared their knowledge of improvised explosives in preparation for future deployments. 1st Marine Division is employed as the ground combat element of I Marine Expeditionary Force and provides the ground combat forces necessary for ship to shore forcible entry operations.
