Dec. 20, 2017 | 2:34
Only about 600 Marine Corps drill instructors shape the approximately 19,000 recruits who come to Parris Island annually into basic United States Marines. This handful of dedicated DIs are entrusted with sustaining a more than 242-year legacy by transforming men and women into the next generation of Marines. This is one of those drill instructors.

Name: SSgt. Marcin Rejment
Kilo Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion
Joined Marine Corps in January 2008
Military Occupational Specialty: Towed Artillery Systems Technician
Became a DI in September 2015
Hometown: Kunkletown, Pa.

“I always thought that I want to give back, I want to give back because the Marine Corps gave me a family, it gave me a career, it gave me a purpose. I wanted to become a drill instructor, I want to make the best Marines possible.”
