Jan. 29, 2019 | 1:11
Reconnaissance Marines, with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, perform visit, board, search and seizure training on the Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43). The Marines are with the Maritime Raid Force and perform training to improve VBSS efficiency and capabilities. The Marines boarded and cleared the McHenry as a part of their VBSS training event. Marines and Sailors with the 22nd MEU and Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group are currently deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
