U.S. Marine Corps Col. Todd Mahar, commanding officer of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, addresses the Marines of the 24th MEU at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Oct. 12, 2023. Now composited, the MEU consists of nearly 2,400 Marines and Sailors, creating a Marine Air Ground Task Force. A MEU is comprised of four elements, the command element, ground combat element, aviation combat element, and the logistics combat element. The MEU's versatile capabilities enable it to possess a significant force that can perform high tactical mobility and deliver sustained firepower within an objective.
