U.S. Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Travis Main, a ground operations specialist with Battalion Landing Team 1/1, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, fires a mounted .50 caliber machine gun during an immediate action upon contact exercise at Combined Arms Training Center Camp Fuji, Japan, April 2, 2024. Marines conducted the exercises utilizing joint light tactical vehicles to ensure rapid and effective response to enemy threats and enhance combat readiness. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
