GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Purpose.  This MARADMIN provides follow on guidance and policy to all Marines.mil unit sites for the mandatory migration of all public-unrestricted Marine Corps web sites to the official new Marine Corps unit theme/design, hosted on Marines.mil American Forces Public Information Management system (AFPIMS), at the Defense Media Activity (DMA).
2.  Background
2.a.  As a first step toward this consolidation DMA and the Marine Corps began migrating select beta sites in CYQ3 2020 and completed the beta in October.  DMA and the Marine Corps then began to migrate subsequent websites on a first come, first served basis.
2.b.  DMA will continue to facilitate the migration of these unit websites to the new design/theme, but the effort for ensuring all layout/content is properly represented with the new design, as well as follows official Marines.mil style guide requirements laid out on www.Marines.mil/styleguide, is the responsibility of each unit’s site manager.
2.c.  Once a unit site begins the migration process, DMA will freeze the front end website until the migration has completed.  Historically, it takes anywhere from 24-72 hours for a unit to complete and launch a standard site migration to the new design.  During that time, the content on your website will be delivered seamlessly to the public, but cannot be updated with new content until the site manager has completed migrating to the new design and sends DMA the approval to set the new website live.
2.d.  DMA’s site migration team intends to assist site managers in the migration of their websites over the next 12 months.  All sites must complete their migration by 30 September 2021 or risk the possibility of substantial layout/design/function issues in the delivery of your public website.
2.e.  Unit web site duties and content management functions will remain under the control of each respective Marine Corps unit and its previously appointed site manager.
3.  Actions and coordinating instructions:
3.a.  Marine Corps units:
3.a.1.  All units with web sites currently hosted on Marines.mil are expected to work with DMA's migration support team to migrate these sites to the new official unit site design/theme.
3.a.2.  Prior to beginning the migration process, units shall identify and eliminate any sites and/or content which are no longer relevant, useful, or required.
3.a.3.  Prior to beginning the migration process, units shall replace any legacy rotate modules on their site with the newer slideshow module.  The rotate module has been phased out of the new design and AFPIMS.
3.a.4.  Units shall provide DMA an official site manager point of contact for their unit website by emailing their name, email, and phone to  dma.meade.mp-conus.mbx.marines-production@mail.mil.
3.a.5.  Units shall provide DMA with a high resolution unit logo/seal, in the form of a transparent PNG (no background) by emailing it to  dma.meade.mp-conus.mbx.marines-production@mail.mil.
3.a.6.  Units shall commit to engaging with the DMA site migration specialist on a daily basis during their migration and to finishing the migration, once started, in a reasonable amount of time as referenced above in 2.c.
3.a.7.  Unit websites shall adhere to the official marines.mil style guide requirements laid out on www.marines.mil/styleguide.
4.  Site managers should contact the POC for further information or clarification.
