GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  This calling message provides information for the combined COMMSTRAT OAG and TLDS to be held 22 - 26 August 2022.
2.  These events will be hosted by the Director, Communication Directorate, Headquarters Marine Corps.
3.  Purpose
3.A.  The COMMSTRAT OAG, held 22-24 August 2022, is the Deputy Commandant for Combat Development and Integration-directed forum for interface, planning and decision between Headquarters Marine Corps, the operating forces and the supporting establishment concerning issues that affect the 4500 OCCFLD.  The OAG strives to increase COMMSTRAT capabilities, employability, development and readiness in support of the Marine Corps’ operational and institutional missions.  It provides a critical forum for the OCCFLD to provide input to the Public Affairs (PA), Visual Information (VI) and Combat Camera (COMCAM) principle advisor based on their current operational perspectives.
3.B.  The TLDS, held 24-26 August 2022, presents the opportunity for participants to connect on the individual and organization level through discussions on mentorship, professionalism, and industry best practices.  The TLDS offers individual and group breakout sessions, panel discussions, and guest presenters that provide essential skills towards building successful careers, leveraging external resources, and increasing technical proficiency.
4.  OAG Participants.  To effectively support the ongoing COMMSTRAT modernization and development for Force Design 2030, the following commands are requested to send 45XX leadership resident within their commands for the OAG.  It is strongly advised all Major Subordinate Commands and Major Subordinate Elements are included when selecting the appropriate personnel, such as the director, visual information officer and senior enlisted, to attend.

5.  TLDS Participants.  In order to receive maximum training benefit and properly recognize the 2021 Visual Information and Excellence in Communication (VIEC) awards winners, commanders are highly encouraged to send their COMMSTRAT Marines to the TLDS.
5.A.  Target audiences include company grade officers, gunnery sergeants, staff sergeants for leadership and communication strategy training and sergeants and below for the content development workshop.
5.B.  During the TLDS, sergeants and below attending should bring their assigned visual information acquisition and editing equipment for the content production workshop portion of the summit.
5.C.  2021 VIEC Award winners will be recognized during the Friday night United States Marine Corps Combat Correspondent Association banquet.  All 2021 COMMSTRAT Marine of the Year, COMMSTRAT Staff Noncommissioned Officer (SNCO) of the Year, COMMSTRAT Visual Information Officer of the Year, COMMSTRAT Officer of the Year, COMMSTRAT Unit of the Year representative, Marine Corps Communicator of the Year, Marine Corps Graphic Designer of the Year, Marine Corps Photographer of the Year, Marine Corps Videographer of the Year, Marine Corps Writer of the Year, Marine Corps Civilian Writer of the Year, Marine Corps Civilian Photographer of the Year and all first, second and third place finishers will be recognized.
6.  Coordinating Instructions
6.A.  Command representatives are required to have the authority to speak on behalf of their respective commander on all areas of the 45XX OccFld, and if required, vote on the outcome as briefed to the OAG chair on Day 3.
6.B.  Working Groups.  The COMMSTRAT OAG will be comprised of working groups to be identified later via SEPCOR.
6.C.  TLDS topics.  The TLDS will be comprised of many training and workshop classes to be identified later via SEPCOR.

6.E.  For the TLDS, participants, per paragraph 5, will need to register with the United States Marine Corps Combat Correspondents Association for the week and for the banquet dinner on 26 August 2022:  https:(slash)(slash)usmcccaonline.com/symposium.  The registration fee is reimbursable but not the banquet dinner fee.
6.F.  Request RSVP from representatives no later than 15 July 2022.
6.G.  Commands requesting additional participation should contact POCs for approval prior.
6.H.  The uniform for OAG and TLDS is business casual for all participants.  The uniform for the VIEC awards dinner is Blue Dress A, with white trousers for SNCOs and Officers.
6.I.  Location.  The events will take place at the Florida Hotel and Conference Center located at 1500 Sand Lake Rd, Orlando, Florida, 32809.
6.K.  Travel.  Travel days for the OAG are 21 and 24 August 2022.  Travel days for the TLDS are 23 and 27 August 2022.  All travel expenses are a unit responsibility.
6.J.  Lodging.  Lodging is available at Florida Hotel and Conference Center at (407) 859-1500. Please use the hotel room code “Marines” to reserve rooms.
6.K.  Attendees and commands must comply with MCO 4600.40b concerning the government travel charge card program.  DTS will identify the 2022 max per diem rate for Orlando, Florida.
6.L.  Transportation and parking.  Transportation is the responsibility of the attendee.
6.N.  Cell phones and computers are authorized and WiFi will be available.
6.O.  Reporting costs.  As sponsor of the COMMSTRAT OAG, CD is required to collect and submit actual cost information.  Request organizations sending representatives to the COMMSTRAT OAG provide total liquidation costs for their respective attendees via email to HQMC_45XX_PROPONENT@usmc.mil no later than 15 July 2022.
