SUBJ/HQMC SEMPER FIT SEEKS APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2023 ALL-MARINE MEN’S AND WOMEN’S TRIATHLON TEAMS//

GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC) Manpower and Reserve Affairs, Semper Fit (MFS) is seeking applications from active duty/active reserve/activated reserve Marines interested in participating in the All-Marine Men’s and Women’s Triathlon Teams.  Except for Inactive Ready Reservist (IRR), reserve force is eligible to participate on All-Marine Sports teams but must be placed on orders Active Duty for Operational Support or similar by their command to participate and receive Temporary Additional Duty (TAD) funds for travel from HQMC.
2.  The Armed Forces Championship dates are 30 March – 2 April 2023 at Naval Base Point Magu, Ventura County, CA.  The Armed Forces Triathlon Championship format is a draft-legal, Olympic distance race consisting of a 1500m swim, 40k bike, and 10k run.  Marines selected to participate on the Armed Forces Triathlon team are eligible to compete at the Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM) Championship from 4-9 May 2023 in Brive la Gaillarde, France.
3.  The All-Marine Men's Triathlon Team consists of seven men, two masters (40 years old and over).  The All-Marine Women’s Triathlon Team consists of five women, two masters (35 years old and over).
4.  To the fullest extent possible, commanding officers should support Marines to apply who exhibit superior performance of specific sport skills and are encouraged to sign All-Marine Sport applications which authorize the potential for TAD of Marines who are attached to their units.
5.  Applicants are required to submit times from races competed in within the past two years.  Waivers to this requirement may be approved by MFS based on circumstances.

7.  Interested Marines must submit applications to participate directly to MFS no later than 16 February 2023.  Please email completed applications to ombmccssportsapplications@usmc-mccs.org.
8.  To participate, applicants are required to have a valid Government Travel Charge Card and an active Defense Travel System account.
9.  HQMC MFS will fund the travel costs associated with this event.
