Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and International Security Assistance Force troops in Afghanistan during operations Jan. 8, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

Air operations in Afghanistan:

Musa Qala
Coalition aircraft provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Friendly forces requested air support after observing a suspicious vehicle and passed coordinates to the coalition pilot, who conducted a show of force with numerous flares expended, to deter any potential enemy action. No enemy action was noted following the show of force.

Asadabad
An aircrew flying an Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle provided armed overwatch and force protection for friendly forces. Friendly forces reported taking small-arms and rocket-propelled-grenade fire from a ridgeline and a precision-guided munition was used to eliminate the threat to friendly forces. The enemy firing position was destroyed and enemy fire ceased.

Washir
Coalition aircraft provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The ground forces reported possible enemy forces along a wood-line position. Friendly forces requested a show of force to deter any potential enemy action. The show of force was successful as no enemy action was reported.

Gardez
F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for a friendly forces dismounted patrol. The aircrews were requested to conduct a show of force for continued deterrence of any enemy action. The show of force, with flares expended, were successful as no enemy action was noted.

Orgun-E
F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for a coalition forces dismounted patrol. The aircrews conducted a show of force for continued deterrence of any enemy action. The show of force was successful as no enemy action was noted.

Chahar Bagh
Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces patrols. Shows of force were requested to deter enemy fire on the patrols. No enemy action was noted after the shows of force.

A-10 pilots provided armed overwatch for several friendly forces patrols in the area. When the patrols reported observing suspicious activity in the area, shows of force were requested to deter potential enemy activity. The shows of force were successful in deterring any enemy action.
