GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  REF A OUTLINES INDIVIDUAL REQUIREMENTS, STANDARDS AND REGULATIONS REGARDING GROUP 1 UNMANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS (UAS) TRAINING.
2.  THIS MARADMIN ANNOUNCES USMC INITIAL QUALIFICATION TRAINING(IQT) AT THE NEW TRAINING AND LOGISTICS SUPPORT ACTIVITY (TALSA) SITES FOR RQ-11B RAVEN DDL, RQ-12A WASP IV AND RQ-20A PUMA. THE NAVY AND MARINE CORPS SMALL TACTICAL UNMANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS PROGRAM OFFICE (PMA-263) CONSOLIDATED ALL GROUP 1 UAS TRAINING AT TALSA SITES TO ENSURE T AND R AND JOINT IQT STANDARDS ARE MET. THIS PROVIDES A MORE RESPONSIVE, FLEXIBLE AND COST EFFECTIVE MEANS TO PROVIDE TRAINING.

4.  TALSA SITES EACH CONDUCT TWO OR THREE CLASSES PER MONTH THAT CAN ACCOMMODATE UP TO TWELVE STUDENTS PER CLASS. COURSE LENGTH IS TYPICALLY TEN DAYS AND COMPRISED OF CLASSROOM LECTURES AND HANDS ON FLIGHT TRAINING.
5.  PRIOR TO ATTENDING A COURSE COMPLETION OF THE BASIC UNMANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEM QUALIFICATION ONE (BUQ-1) COURSE IS REQUIRED. COURSE IS OFFERED VIA JOINT KNOWLEDGE ONLINE, HTTP:(FORWARD SLASH, FORWARD SLASH) JKO.JFCOM.MIL/, OR THE FOLLOWING SOCOM COURSES FULFILL THE REQUIREMENT: SOCOM-US796-01 THROUGH SOCOM-US796-11.
6.  TRAINING REQUESTS MUST BE SUBMITTED TO THE TALSA AT LEAST 45 DAYS PRIOR TO START DATE. ANY ACTIVE DUTY, RESERVE OR MARSOC MARINE MAY ATTEND A SUAS CLASS WITH COMMAND APPROVAL. COMMANDERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO SEND MARINES WITH AT LEAST ONE YEAR OF OBLIGATED SERVICE REMAINING UPON COMPLETION OF THE SUAS COURSE.
7.  TALSA SITES CAN ASSIST UNITS WITH UAS LOGISTICS AND SUPPLY SUPPORT, OPERATOR CURRENCY TRAINING REQUIREMENTS, UAS INTEGRATION (MISSION PLANNING AND EMPLOYMENT), AND SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTISE. THE TALSA CAN DEPLOY MOBILE TRAINING TEAMS (MTT'S) AND FIELD SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES (FSR'S) TO CONUS AND OCONUS LOCATIONS FOR OPERATOR TRAINING IF DEEMED NECESSARY.
8.  UNITS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY TRAVEL, LODGING AND PER DIEM COSTS INCURRED WITH TRAINING ATTENDANCE. NO ADDITIONAL UNIT COSTS ARE INCURRED FOR TRAINING PROVIDED AT TALSA SITES OR BY MTT'S.
