The U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron "Thunderbirds" is coming back to Homestead ARB to headline the 2012 Wings Over Homestead Air Show Nov. 3-4.

The announcement was made during the International Council of Air Show's annual convention in Las Vegas, Nev., last week.

The Thunderbirds squadron is an Air Combat Command unit composed of eight pilots (including six demonstration pilots), four support officers, four civilians and more than 100 enlisted personnel performing in almost 30 job specialties.

Flying the Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon, more than 280 million people in all 50 states and 57 foreign countries have seen the red, white and blue jets in more than 3,500 aerial demonstrations.

Also announced for the 2012 show, is the U.S. Army parachute team, The Golden Knights.  The "Knights" have performed more than 16,000 shows in all 50 states and 48 countries, reaching more than 20,000 people per show with their spectacular live parachute demonstrations.

After hosting extremely successful air shows in 2009 and 2010, Wings Over Homestead took a brief hiatus during the 2011 season to prepare for numerous readiness inspections.

Wings Over Homestead organizers are really excited to have the "T-Birds" and Golden Knights coming back to Homestead. In 2010, the air show was attended by almost 400,000 people making it one of the largest shows attended in the country.
