Commandant Removes General in charge of Marine and Family Programs
16 Apr 2018

Marine Brig. Gen. Kurt W. Stein, the director of Marine and Family Programs, has been removed and reassigned after an investigation into his remarks at an all-hands meeting April 6, 2018.

Headquarters Marine Corps received an anonymous hotline tip April 9, regarding remarks made by Stein. The Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. Robert B. Neller, directed a command investigation that was completed on April 13. After reviewing the investigation, Neller determined that he lost confidence in Stein’s ability to lead this particular organization, and Stein has been removed and reassigned.

Leaders are responsible for establishing an environment conducive to mission accomplishment.
