Marine safe after ejecting from aircraft

A pilot with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 251, Marine Aircraft Group 31, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing was confirmed to have ejected from an F/A-18C Hornet after touching down at the Twentynine Palms Strategic Expeditionary Landing Field (SELF) runway at approximately 6:15 p.m. local time (9:15 p.m EST.).

The concern was the safety and well-being of the Marines. The pilot has been safely recovered, and is in good condition with no major injuries reported, but was transported to the local area hospital as a precautionary measure.


Aircraft rescue and firefighting units have responded at the scene and ensured the site has been secured.

The incident is under investigation, and updates will be made as they are available.
