Base to hold information fair for personnel and families Wednesday
5 Aug 2014

Infopalooza, hosted by Headquarters and Support Battalion aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, is scheduled for August 6.

The event provides first-hand looks at the services and opportunities available to Marines and their families aboard the installation and within Onslow County.

The free, informational fair at Marston Pavilion is open from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to gain knowledge through numerous exhibits where vendors provide information about base programs, advice on education, employment and upcoming events.

“We understand that navigating this base and knowing what services are available can be tricky,” said Lt. Col. Harry L. Gardner, Headquarters and Support Battalion commanding officer.  “This is a one-stop shop to obtain all the information necessary to make your tour and here the best of your career and to enhance the quality of life for your family.”

The groups providing information include Marine Corps Community Services resources such as personal finance and education assistance, as well as other services such as Semper Fit and the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.

Community vendors such as the Vet Center, the USO, Semper Fi Fund, the Women Marines Association and Hope for the Warriors will also be participating in the event.

There will be interactive activities available to have fun and promote safety, such as an anti-drunk driving program where participants can drive on a course using goggles that simulate drunk driving, as well as another station where participants can practice escaping from a smoke-filled room, to learn how to plan for fires.
