F/A-18 Hornet pilots and navigators dismount their aircraft after landing at Clark Air Base, Republic of the Philippines April 4 for the upcoming exercise Balikatan 2013. The exercise is an annual bilateral training exercise aimed at ensuring interoperability of the Philippine and U.S. militaries during planning, contingency, and humanitarian assistance operations. The exercise officially begins April 5 and is expected to conclude on April 17. The aircraft are with Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 533, Marine Aircraft Group 31, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, II Marine Expeditionary Force, currently attached to Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st MAW, III MEF under the unit deployment program.
