Medal of Honor recipient Cpl. William “Kyle” Carpenter addresses Marines at the base theater aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., June 23, 2014. During the visit, Carpenter also visited Wounded Warrior Battalion West. Carpenter earned the nation’s highest military award for his actions in Helmand province, Afghanistan, in November 2010. He saved another Marine’s life by shielding him from a grenade blast during an enemy attack.
