U.S. Marine Lt. Col. Brian Middleton, commanding officer of 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Marine Rotational Force Darwin, and Nigel Scullion, senator for the Northern Territory, lay a wreath at a memorial for the Battle of the Coral Sea, May 7, 2017. The battle, which took place from May 4-8, 1942, was between the Imperial Japanese Navy and naval and air forces from the United States and Australia.
