Note from the Commander |

As a Corps, we have asked our Marines to make tremendous sacrifices in the pursuit of accomplishing our organization’s mission. With that mission also comes a high degree of sacrifice on the part of our Marine’s families which in the past has often gone unrecognized. The disruption of moving; entering children into new schools; trying to fit in and adjust to new surroundings all take a toll. As usual our Marines and their families have performed in a spectacular fashion despite these hardships and for that I am profoundly thankful and proud.
I fully understand and appreciate the efforts made by our Marines, Sailors, civilians and their loved ones which is why I have made taking care of them among this commands highest priorities. Establishing SOI’s Family Readiness Program is the principle means by which I intend to make a difference in the lives of those family members connected to the School of Infantry. While the School of Infantry is a non-deployable unit, our personnel maintain an exceptionally high training tempo.
In an effort to help with stress of our very busy and dynamic environment, I have hired our first Family Readiness Officer, Ms Evelyn Plumb whose responsibility will be to assist our families and Marines in taking full advantage of the numerous programs and resources that are available. Programs such as Lifestyle Insight Networking Knowledge Skills (L.I.N.K.S.), Chaplain's Religious Enrichment Divisions Operations (CREDO), and the numerous Armed Services YMCA offerings were specifically designed as resources for the Marine family and offer a wealth of information on a wide variety of subjects.
As the Commanding Officer, I welcome your comments, suggestions, questions or complaints. Please feel free to contact me through the Family Readiness Officer anytime. Finally, I want to once again thank you for all the efforts you have made and will continue to make in support of your Marine and our Marine Corps.

Note from Family Readiness Officer |
| Hi, my name is Evie, and I am your new Family Readiness Officer. I am here for you and your families, to help you with Family Readiness. We have an amazing opportunity serving a non-deployable unit here at SOI, we can build the premiere network and have a dynamic impact on our newest Marines and ensure that their spouses are aware of the Family Readiness from the very start. What is Family Readiness you ask, well, per MCO 1754.6A, “Family readiness is defined as families who are prepared and equipped with the skills and tools to successfully meet the challenges of the military lifestyle. Family readiness directly affects the fundamental purpose of the Marine Corps to make Marines and win battles by building commitment and raising morale, thereby increasing unit readiness." Interpreted that means I am here to be your resource to assist with the complexities of being a Marine Corps Spouse. I am dedicated to helping improve your quality of life by providing the full spectrum of support in any number of capacities from showing you where to find a good babysitter, to helping you sign up for a tuition assistance program and everything in-between. I hope to build a Family Team Building Network (formerly Key Volunteers Network) that will be as large and involved as any deploying unit. I will make sure you are always in the know about what new programs and incentives the Marine Corps is offering, and I will help you to build a peer-to-peer base where you can network and help each other. Please sign up to be a volunteer, help make this command one that all other Family Readiness programs draw their inspiration from. |
