More Information
Exercise Balikatan 2019, from April 1 to 12, allowed military forces to interact with local Filipino communities and provide humanitarian and civic assistance. The exercise also provided the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the United States, and Australia the opportunity to exercise and share their aviation, logistics and ground operations capabilities. “Balikatan” is a Tagalog phrase for “shoulder-to-shoulder,” which characterizes the spirit of the exercise and represents the partnership between the U.S. and the Philippines.
