Prevention of noise-induced hearing loss requires elimination or reduction of noise hazards through engineering controls. In the event engineering controls are not practical or feasible, exposure will be administratively limited by exposure time and/or the use of a Hearing Protective Device (HPD). All Marines, assigned Sailors and hazardous noise-exposed civilian personnel will receive annual hearing preservation training and hearing tests to ensure early detection of and protection from hearing loss.
