The United States Marines Corps has a rich history filled with expeditionary operations and irregular warfare accomplishments, which provides the foundation for Marine Corps Special Operations. Although the United States Marine Corps (USMC) did not provide a Service component to the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) until 2005, the Marine Corps’ ability to conduct and support special operations is demonstrated throughout its history.
