MCTP 3-10C, Employment of Assault Amphibious Vehicles, provides the basis for using assault amphibious vehicles (AAVs) in support of Marine Corps operations. This publication addresses the mechanized capability of the assault amphibian (AA) unit, section, and platoon in support of Marine air-ground force (MAGTF) or other ground combat element missions (GCE). These missions include seizing and defending key maritime terrain, conducting land operations essential to naval operations, and sustained operations ashore supporting joint or combined force land or maritime operations.
