Marines with 1st Tank Battalion and Combat Logistics Regiment-35 work with local Korean nationals to conduct “Rail Ops”, the process of transporting M1A1 Abrams battle tanks and their support via civilian rail to a designated offload point during Freedom Banner 16, March 21, 2016, Suseongri Live Fire Range, South Korea. The use of transporting US armor via rail system makes an affordable and more convenient method of transporting equipment during military exercises. Freedom Banner 2016 is a military exercise focused on training and relationship building with Republic of Korean Marines as well as logistical movements of personnel and equipment.
