Shooting the Unknown
Nov. 3, 2016 | 2:03
Marines with 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, take part in a live-fire unknown distance training course aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Nov. 3, 2016. The course is a portion of the pre-scout sniper program that prepares Marines for the scout sniper school. The unknown distance range teaches Marines the skills needed to determine the distance to a target without the use of a range finder or other similar tools and instead relies on the Marine using his scope and observation telescopes. Instructors stress the importance of the fundamentals of marksmanship during the course to the Marines. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Cpl. Justin Huffty)
