U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Ronald Ramsey, a reconnaissance Marine with 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, explains the hardships he encountered while undergoing the United States Marine Corps Combatant Diver Course and how it has helped him build a stronger bond with our Japanese allies on White Beach, Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 16, 2019. "One hand pretty much washes the other," said Ramsey, a native of Westland, Michigan. "We help them and they are simultaneously helping us." Using the training he has received through the Marine Corps, Ramsey helped local Okinawans by diving into the ocean and conducting a site survey and verification of large rocks, which were causing damage to Japanese ships when entering the loading docks.
