US Marines host Okinawa Vice-Governor Jahana

Vice Gov. Kiichiro Jahana, vice governor of the Okinawa Prefecture, visited Marine Corps Air Station Futenma on April 17, 2020, on Okinawa, Japan. Marine Corps officials, such as, Brig. Gen. William J. Bowers, the Marine Corps Installations Pacific commanding general, and Col. David Steele, the commanding officer of MCAS Futenma, showed Jahana where and how the installation cleaned up a chemical spill on and off base. Jahana was invited to MCAS Futenma to view the site of a spill that occurred on April 10 and discuss immediate clean-up responses, prevention of future spills, and on-going efforts to safeguard the community. The visit was done in accordance with bilateral agreements between the United States and Japan, and highlighted the positive relationship between the Marine Corps and local communities.
