Cpl. Cecilia Gutierrez describes the intelligence and prudence that a meteorology and oceanography analyst forecaster has to have to keep Marines safe Aug. 8 on Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, Japan. METOC Marines are compatible with all units but those with MCAS Futenma forecast specifically for pilots and crews; they take everything into account from prevailing visibility and wind direction to thermal columns and storms. Gutierrez, a Lancaster, California, native, is a METOC analyst forecaster, with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, MCAS Futenma, Marine Corps Installations Pacific.
