Flashback Friday: Operation Strike of the Sword

U.S. Marines with 2nd Battalion 8th Marines, 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, and 2nd Marine Expeditionary Battalion, launched Operation Strike of the Sword on July 2, 2009. Unlike previous “clear and quit” missions, this operation focused more on a “clear, hold, and build” strategy. We honor the valor and sacrifice of the Marines that participated in the operation.
